Was given 2 'lagnaippe' carrots with my zucchini/heirloom tomatoes (see pics below)

Should buy more--if I only had a bunny to eat all those green tops

(note: don't tell me I should eat the carrots tops, wouldn't know where to begin to cook 'em & also don't tell me to 'eat the flowers' either - had them once in a salad in either Colorado or Germany & it just felt wrong, perhaps I'm not 'animal' enough?!)

Regarding Days/Hours...

I don't see it, but I know I bought the jar of Fig preserves...

now to find them in the fridge again, so I can have them on toast tomorrow for breakfast

(note: seeing Quail eggs in the jars--I do recall trying them once in Doha, Qatar at a party as an appetizer & I was surprised they were OK, could be 'cause they taste just like eggs?!)

- Where is Freetown?

The name 'Freetown' is not an official designation.
As such, there is no clearly defined boundary to the area.
The name though goes back over one hundred years.
Roughly, Freetown is the area of Lafayette bounded to the South by Jefferson Street, as far as Johnston Street. The Western boundary runs from Jefferson Street, along Johnston Street as far as Garfield Street. Garfield Street forms the Northern boundary of Freetown, along the railroad tracks, as far as Taft Street. The Eastern boundary runs along Taft Street, back to Jefferson Street. An illustration of this area can be found here."

"The AcA is excited to announce the artists that will participate for Southern Open 2012. Seventy-five pieces of art created by 31 artists will be showcased in the Main Gallery.

The Southern Open is a competitive juried exhibition featuring artists from the 5 southern states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Taking place in the Main Gallery at the AcA, Southern Open 2012 includes all types of original media: painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography and video/DVD provided by visual artists over the age of 18.

During a reception being held on May 12 during the May ArtWalk, a juror's pick of $1,000 and two $500 honorable mentions will be announced. The artist receiving the juror's pick will also receive a solo exhibition as part of the AcA Side Gallery Series during May 2013."

Taking special note of what I like most from her presentation at Freetown Studios - on her webpage also - these two items...

a photo of herself on the right in a white shirt resembling school uniforms
and of a younger self on the left (which we were told is her niece I think, who is said to look a lot like the artist when she was that young...) also in a white shirt that could be very well a school uniform shirt...
the backdrop for the photo, a piece in the vinyl she sews & stuffs with batting, one such piece in particular she calls Protection...

Diffuse

a video - in full perhaps 17 min's, I think she said, but in brief a clip at a few minutes...
of the artist in white plastic shoes, bought at Sears was it, walking on egg shells - could only imagine the time it took to construct the backdrop for this & then to film it, which she did her self in a most ingenious fashion... (something along the lines of necessicity being the mother of invention kind of storyline...)

And made out of the idea of "walking on egg shells" - when dealing with certain people... how many times have we heard that & never come to the same conclusion as this piece, as she says there is humor in it, I think perhaps humor is her muse - but in the way to deal with the pain, as laughter being the best medicine kind of idea is...

When you click on Stephanie Patton's name up come 2 videos/video clips you can watch of hers, 1st starts with a painting of a reclining leather sofa like in a living room - called Relocation Beige & then 2nd is the 'walking on egg shells' - called Diffuse...

After that a photo of "Life Saver" installation - with Diffuse in the background & the bronzed comfortable shoes of her Grandmother in the foreground (done by a company that I'm sure does baby shoe bronzing, back when that use to be something to do - then came a time when they were made into photo frame stands or ashtrays...)

I love how that sounds (there should be a song-anybody?)

And if you were to realize the actually real historical housing area here in Lafayette that is Freetown it would make an even better fit--as some will say VooDoo/HooDoo or perhaps even Zombies comes from an African root...

I must revisit what little I know of Zombies from movies I have seen & only due to having 2 sons 1 of which was a horror fan (this probably in part from letting that baby boy watch Altered States at an age where we didn't really think he was getting anything from it but "monkey movie" - Mommie, I want to watch the "monkey movie" again?! hmmm...maybe we should of rethought that movie selection?!)

Has anyone looked at the list, the long/Long/Really Long list of Zombie Movies...OMGoodness I had No Idea?!

??? (too many on the list to keep looking thru, but lean toward the humorous Zombie movies...)

A Classic Horro/Zombie Movie I did not see, but am thinking maybe I should watch the beginning (or the end) one day...from back in 1932 (like the Dark Ages) 'White Zombie' was made & you have to wonder did that start off the trend to make Zombie Movies or what?!

Which brings me to the Band 'White Zombie' & the Rob Zombie who worked with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails for his movie soundtrack (which again our oldest son discovered Nine Inch Nails from a cassette his Dad had laying around in an old cassette case - in maybe Middle School or High School...so another cautionary parental advice from this tale--hide the horror movies & the heavy metal media before the kids find them?!)

I was 1 of the Public & just made it?! Was wondering where all the rest of Lafayette was--they missed out I thought on seeing behind the scenes of not only Freetown Studios Space but also the Zombie Safe House guys...if there's a book (or when there's a book) am so hoping they will include all the 'stories' & fun that brought them to this competition idea...

note: I esp love the 2 Brits that made an entire newspaper around their entry & spoofed adverts along the way, including IKEA - or in their Zombie Safe World it's IKEAK...(really I think IKEA should jump in on this fun - a boxed working model of their safe pod would be Fabulous - I say talk them into that for next year's competition or display at ZombieCon 2012?!)
